Gravity and anomaly maps illustrate small departures from expected values of the Earths gravity and magnetic fields caused by variations in the desity and magnetisation of the rocks within the crust. They give an overview of the UK landmass and continental shelf, for example depth of sedimantary basins for oil and gas exploration.
